2008 Popcorn Fundraiser
The philosophy of Troop 18 is to fund the Troop’s activities through Scout dues. In this way everyone contributes equally to support the program. Because we have an extensive program, we require relatively large dues. To help families offset this expense, we use the popcorn sale as a way of crediting the Scout’s account towards these dues. This is our Troop’s only fundraiser.
As in previous years, we are offering a $25.00 credit towards Troop dues for every $100.00 of popcorn sold. Thus if the Scout sells enough popcorn, he will owe nothing towards his 2009 dues.
Another benefit of the popcorn sales is to support our local Monmouth Council (MCBSA). Proceeds from the popcorn sale are a significant contribution toward the operating expenses of MCBSA.
In addition to these incentives, the Troop plans a pizza party for every Scout who sells at least $100. We expect every Scout to sell at least this much. Also at the pizza party is our traditional pie throwing event where Scouts earn whipped cream pies (one per every $200.00 sold) to throw at selected adult leaders.
Again, the goal of Troop 18’s popcorn sales is to help our Scouts, our Troop and our Council. Our incentives are structured to help the Scouts that want to help themselves. Our packet includes two order forms: one for scouts and one for parents to take to the workplace. Try also to participate in the blitz sales.
